Fred Hohman founded Active Manufacturing Corp. in Grand Haven, Michigan in 1986. The business began with two workers, a mill, a wire EDM machine, and a small rented garage filled with a few hand presses.
Mr. Hohman saw that larger businesses needed a source for their short-run prototypes and productions. Actively sought to address this demand with a quick, accurate, and affordable solution.
Active started out in the spring business and swiftly spread throughout the nation to the furniture, automobile, aerospace, medical, and electronics sectors. Active's current president, Jeff Braak, and his brother-in-law, Jeff Berry, bought the business in December of 2012. Being Fred's sons-in-law, both have worked at Active for more than 20 years, helping to maintain the company's family ownership.
Active has amassed the expertise base enough to handle even the most challenging turnkey projects, from the simplest components.
